my flickr site

One more update: over the past few weeks I’ve been seriously updating new content on my Flickr site. The timestamps on the images are a few weeks in the past, so you may have to dig around to find it. One of the shoots was from a trip to Hannah Park. It was an experiment in pushing my style and trying something a little different. The other was from a ‘tradtional’ pin-up shoot.

I’m by no means abandoning my style or my layered art, but instead I’m playing with some new techniques and hopefully capturing some interesting, evocative imagery along the way. Check out the angel-wings set, we had a blast working on it!

(Log-in to flickr to see all my work)

Most of the images are for sale on ImageKind as traditional prints. If you’re interested in a special size or technique I can usually accomdate these requests, just shoot me an email. Thanks!

Have Fun!

poem_1_web

I do my best work when I’m having fun, playing. When those happy accidents have a warm environment to breed in. When I don’t filter things. When syntax takes a backseat to design. Any elevated individual can recognize the nature of humans to deliver serious, and serious quality goodies in a fun, playful environment. Anything else is hackery.

Collaboration with rejcel of rejcel.com

rejcelNot that it hasn’t been on my mind before, but not until after seeing Justin of Rule29 Creative speak at a local AIGA event did I start assuaging the collaborative beast in me. What I really mean here transcends collaboration and moves more into the spectrum of sharing ideas voraciously…without an ownership flinch if someone else uses one of mine.

So, I’m deviating from my standard deviation, and have asked rejcel (as seen in this on this wonderful site) to be part of an artist-meets-artist collaboration. Rejcel (who assembled her first lawnmower at age 2), is an artist that I respect in Jacksonville. Not to knock Jacksonville (again), but I’m over your infant-steps towards modernism, caught somewhere between a bead and a necklace. I have many really wonderful friends that are amazingly talented, however. I’m happy and enthusiastic to see what rejcel and I can create in her first time out from behind the camera.

In other news, remind me to start writing these in stream-of-consciousness as opposed to whatever pseudo-reality thing I’m up to now.

Art Walk – Pictures

As a follow-up, I wanted to thank all of you for the fantastic emails regarding yesterday. The last several times I’ve shown work out, my work was quite different from Wednesday, and I appreciate hearing the comments and viewpoints from everyone that took the time to email me (as well as those in person)! It’s overwhelming in a good way, thanks much. And to Melissa: yes, following your passion, and finding that passion seems like the most important sometimes…because it is! Anything that makes you truly happy, even if for just a moment, can’t be a bad thing! I’m glad your experience with my work touched you in such a personal way.

I welcome any other questions or comments.

Here are a few photos from early in the evening from Marcia! I’ll update this post with more as they trickle in from anyone else who sends me photos and wants me to post them. Thanks!
