ruggedly creative, innovatively handsome

In my undergrad literature class, Novels : Now and Then, our teacher asked us to come up with motives for writing. We slowly started calling out the more noble reasons for the novelists pursuit, such as : to impart knowledge, to explain an experience, to tell a story… etc. When our teacher tired of our naivete she started writing on the board other motives for writing novels, such as: revenge, to get laid, to invoke pity/love/hate/lust/sadness, to put food on the table.. etc.

Looking back, I realize we forgot the most basic reason why people write, or act, or paint or draw or photograph or do design shit, or art shit, or sport shit or any shit for that matter. It’s because we want to, it’s because to not do so would be absolutely, fucking unbearable. Read the rest of this entry »

It feels like Thursday

New York, 2008

I don’t know what that means. People say It feels like Thursday on a Monday. I say it feels like beer and disillusioned youth. Regardless. I got a nice comment on this photo I shot in New York. It’s hard to mess up a view from the Brooklyn Bridge, let’s be frank! I mean, when there is beauty all around you, you have to be horrible not to see it. This does happen to be my favourite shot from the bridge. it’s the least touristy one; but, more importantly, it reminds me of the pieces I miss most about New York. I’ll keep those pieces to myself, but trust me, they’re juicy!

In other news:
I set up for ArtWalk today. It went really well and I’m as pleased as I can be with anything. The curse of pseudo-perfectionism.

In my ongoing fascination with bathroom etiquette, I noticed today at work, a gentleman following another one in. They were chatting. Well, it’s a tiny bathroom, and one of them didn’t need to use the facilities–he was just there to finish the thought. It made me uncomfortable as well as the other gentleman. Please! The conversation stops at the door OR pretend to pee! Get a clue.

Is it the real Steve Buscemi? I don’t know, but he’s damn hilarious.
